HCC to host Hagerstown Startup Week
(Hagerstown, MD) – The Incubators + Labs at Hagerstown Community College will host the first-ever Hagerstown Startup Week, from May 22 to 26. This free, week-long conference is designed to inspire entrepreneurship and help business leaders build momentum and gain resources. It will offer an opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect and network with both resource providers and fellow founders.
“This is the first time that Washington County has held a Startup Week, which follows a national trend to inspire entrepreneurs to take the leap and follow their dreams,” said HCC President Jim Klauber. “We encourage inspired members of our community to take advantage of everything that will be offered during this week-long event.”
The week’s activities will kick off with the opening ceremony on Monday, May 22, at 8 a.m., in the Mama’s Biscuits Culinary Incubator at HCC. Hagerstown Startup Week will feature panel discussions, educational workshops, networking events, an Idea Pitch Competition, and a Startup Showcase, highlighting 30 companies based in Washington County.
“My experience has taught me business owners did not become successful all on their own. Entrepreneurs need investments, but not just finances, they need the guidance, time, and expertise of others to truly make their vision become reality,” said Jonathan Horowitz, Washington County director of business development. “Hagerstown Startup Week is the culmination of these resources all in one place and time. The Washington County, Maryland Department of Business Development encourages anyone looking to start their own business to attend and learn from this unique opportunity.”
The conference brings together Western Maryland’s inventors, makers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. Whether you are a seasoned entrepreneur or new to the community, there is space for you.
Hagerstown Startup Week is a completely free event for participants, made possible by local sponsors including Washington County Business Development, Antietam Broadband, Mama’s Biscuits, M&T Bank, TEDCO, United Bank, City of Hagerstown Department of Community and Economic Development, F&M Trust, Greater Hagerstown Committee, and Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
