Washington County is Seeking Applicants for the Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors

HAGERSTOWN, MD (February 28, 2024) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors. The Board of Directors serve as advisors, stewards, and advocates of the Agricultural Education Center, which serves as a facility and event destination for the tri-state area.

The mission of the Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors is to:

  1. To assist/advise with the development of the facility
  2. To assist with providing funding for the development and operation of the facility
  3. To promote agricultural pursuits in Washington County
  4. To promote educational and recreational programs and activities which involved youth, the agricultural industry and the general public in all aspects of agriculture.
  5. To educate the community on the Rural Heritage of the County.

The Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors consists of nine voting members appointed by the Washington County Board of County Commissioners. Click the following links to read the By-Laws and Mission.

Board Member duties include:

  1. To assist/advise with the development and maintenance of the facility including a new indoor multipurpose building and event center.
  2. To assist with providing funding for the development of the facility
  3. To advise on the operation of the facility
  4. To promote recreational programs, agriculture/cultural/heritage activities, and special events at the facility that support the community.

The Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 4:00 pm at the Agricultural Education Center (7313 Sharpsburg Pike Boonsboro MD 21713).
