Washington County Invites Vendors for Annual Groundhog Day Celebration

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 28, 2024) – The Washington County Department of Economic and Business Development is excited to announce the upcoming annual Groundhog Day Celebration, set to take place on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, located at 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. In the event of inclement weather, a snow date is scheduled for Friday, February 14, 2025.

This family-friendly celebration is a hallmark event for the Department of Business and Economic Development, designed to highlight Washington County’s thriving agricultural community. The Groundhog Day Celebration will feature local farms, farmers, and value-added producers offering a wide variety of unique local products. Held indoors at the multi-purpose building, this event provides attendees with tasting samples from every vendor, opportunities to purchase products directly, live music, and a free kid’s area to enjoy.

Event Highlights:

  • Date: Friday, January 31, 2025 (Snow date: Friday, February 14, 2025)
  • Location: Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, MD
  • Tickets: Approximately 350 tickets available
  • Activities: Vendor samples, product sales, live music and a free children’s activity area

This celebration, which welcomes visitors of all ages, brings wintertime awareness to the diversity of Washington County’s agricultural products. As many consumers often associate local produce with warmer months, the Groundhog Day Celebration demonstrates the availability of fresh, locally produced goods throughout the winter.

Vendor Opportunities Available:

Washington County is seeking local farms, farmers, and producers to participate as vendors at this event. Those interested are encouraged to complete the Vendor Application, available at 2025-GHD-application.pdf, or to contact Kelsey Keadle at 301-573-7039 or via email at [email protected]. Applications will be accepted through January 10, 2025.

This annual event is an excellent platform for vendors to showcase their offerings and connect with the community. We invite all local producers to join us for a celebration of Washington County’s agricultural richness this Groundhog Day.
