Washington County Department of Water Quality Westfields Subdivision Sewer Smoke Test 03-19-2025

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 17, 2025) – Washington County Department of Water Quality will be conducting a sewer smoke test on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in the Westfields subdivision, specifically targeting the 9300 block of Morning Walk Drive. Homes on Roslin Place may also experience effects from the testing.

The test involves introducing a non-toxic smoke into the sewer system to identify potential issues. Residents may notice smoke exiting from manholes in the street and rooftop vents of nearby residences. This is a normal part of the process and does not indicate a problem. The smoke will not enter homes unless there is an existing plumbing issue.

For more information about the smoke test or if you have any concerns, please contact: 240-313-2600.

For additional information, please contact Washington County’s Public Relations & Marketing Department at [email protected].
