HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 28, 2025) – Washington County Department of Business and Economic Development is proud to partner with the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) to support the growth of local manufacturers. This collaboration brings exciting opportunities for Washington County manufacturers to access valuable resources, connect with industry leaders, and strengthen our community’s manufacturing sector. With over 4,000 manufacturers employing more than 110,000 workers and contributing nearly $25 billion to Maryland’s GDP, manufacturing is a cornerstone of the state’s economy. As Jonathan Horowitz, Director of the Washington County Department of Business and Economic Development, explains, “It is essential that we work together to ensure our legislators, stakeholders, and communities understand the critical role manufacturing plays in Maryland’s economic strength and future.”
The Make It in Maryland program is designed to raise awareness of the vital role manufacturing plays in the state, foster collaboration among industry leaders, and share the inspiring stories of Maryland’s manufacturers. A key highlight of the program is the Manufacturing Tour Talks, which provides a unique opportunity for manufacturers to connect with peers, exchange best practices, and address common challenges while learning from industry leaders and touring local facilities.
Make It in Maryland also highlights the talented teams behind Maryland’s manufacturing sector, the innovative products they create, and the career opportunities they offer. Through videos, the program brings these stories to life, showcasing the incredible work being done across the state. Additionally, the Make It in Maryland: Manufacturing Spotlight Podcast offers a platform to discuss industry trends, introduce new companies, and share valuable insights from key stakeholders.
The Proud to Make It in Maryland campaign celebrates the essential role manufacturers play in the state’s economy, with the goal of having a Proud to Make It in Maryland banner displayed in every manufacturing facility across the state!
