TRAFFIC ALERT: Road Closure on Sandy Hook Road

HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 23, 2019) – The Washington County Division of Emergency Services and Division of Engineering announces a road closure on Sandy Hook Road between Hoffmaster Road and the school bus turnaround.

A team has been dispatched to the landslide to evaluate the situation and t he total closure period is undetermined at this time. Once the landslide has been evaluated, updates will be provided.

In May 2018, the southern part of Washington County was heavily impacted by flooding. In regard to the Sandy Hook Road landslide, the National Park Service is still working on the design and historic preservation process for permanent repairs. At this time, the National Park Service has not indicated a timeframe for these repairs.

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.
