Southern Boulevard Bypass Opens to Traffic

HAGERSTOWN, MD (December 18, 2018) – TheWashington County Division of Engineering is pleased to announce the completion of construction for a new roadway that connects Frederick Street (Alt. 40) and East Oak Ridge Drive. The roadway is scheduled to open at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.

Scott Hobbs, director of the Division of Engineering says, “We are pleased to announce the opening of Southern Boulevard, a new road constructed between East Oak Ridge Drive and Frederick Street. The work at Frederick Street (Alt 40) was completed in collaboration with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.  We appreciate the patience of motorists, businesses, and area residents during the construction of this major project.”

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.

The starting time for today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting will be reevaluated at 9:00 am.

For those required to travel, exercise caution on the roadways. If driving is necessary, ensure your vehicle is completely cleared, drive at a reduced speed, practice caution, and avoid crowding or passing plows.
