HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 27, 2022) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is pleased the announce the appointment of Michelle Gordon as Chief Financial Officer.
Gordon is a lifelong resident of Washington County. After graduating from Williamsport High School in Williamsport, Maryland, she obtained her Bachelor of Science from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland and her Master’s of Business Administration from Mt. Saint Mary’s University School of Business in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Gordon comes to Washington County Government with over 30 years of finance and accounting experience and over 20 years of governmental accounting experience.
Gordon most recently served as the Finance Director for Jefferson County, West Virginia, and served in that role for over seven years. At Jefferson County, she provided the commission, elected officials, departments, and the community with the guidance needed to navigate the financial difficulties that arose during the worldwide pandemic, and she spearheaded technology improvements that streamlined the budget and financial process to bring financial transparency to the local community.
