Live. Work. Play

Residents enjoy excellent quality of life – filled with recreational, cultural and intellectual opportunities. Housing options are affordable, law enforcement and safety including emergency services are a priority, and our educational system is world class. In addition, Washington County is located in close proximity to Baltimore and Washington D.C., as a result, our community is an fusion of metropolitan culture with a rural lifestyle. We encourage you to  visit our great county – you will quickly see why we are proud of where we live, work and play.

Employee Recognition

We value our employees and their dedication to serving our community. Our employee recognition initiatives highlight the hard work, achievements, and years of service of our incredible team members. Through special events, awards, and testimonials, we celebrate those who go above and beyond in their roles.

Employee Recognition Breakfast

The Employee Recognition Breakfast is a time-honored tradition where we acknowledge employees for their commitment and accomplishments. Leaders take this opportunity to express their gratitude and highlight milestones, including years of service awards. We also feature employee testimonials to showcase the impact our team has on the county and its residents.

Employee Appreciation

Showing appreciation for our employees is a priority, and we celebrate in a variety of ways throughout the year.

Employee Appreciation Day

As one way to thank our dedicated employees, we host an annual appreciation event. This year, county employees enjoyed a night at Meritus Park to watch the Flying Boxcars play ball—a great evening of fun, camaraderie, and recognition for their hard work!

Employee Engagement

Fostering a strong, connected workforce is key to our success. We organize a variety of activities throughout the year to build team spirit, encourage collaboration, and create an enjoyable workplace culture.

Spirit Weeks & Friendly Competitions

We bring employees together through spirit weeks, team-building competitions, and department challenges. From showcasing our cooking skills in the Chili Cook-Off to decking the halls in the Holiday Door Decorating Contest, these friendly competitions spark creativity and engagement.

Annual Events

In addition to workplace festivities, we host special events such as a New Year’s gathering to start the year on a positive note and a Day of Caring, where employees come together to give back to the community.
