  • Benefits Credit:
    • All full-time employees are eligible for health insurance, including general medical, dental, and vision coverage, as part of their employment.  If employees or their dependents are covered under another plan and decide during Open Enrollment that they do not wish to take the County’s health insurance benefits, the County offers optional Health Insurance Benefit Credits.
  • Summary of Health Insurance Benefit Credits
    • There are two (2) Tiers of Health Insurance Benefits Credits available to employees:
      • Dropping one (1) Tier: Employees who drop one Tier  will receive a Health Insurance Benefit Credit totaling $700.00 or (3) days of vacation. The employee’s selected Health Insurance Benefit Credit will be applied the first pay period of July. 
      • Dropping two (2) Tiers: Employees who drop two Tiers will receive a Health Insurance Benefit Credit totaling $1,000.00 or (5) days of vacation. The employee’s selected Health Insurance Benefit Credit will be applied the first pay period of July. 
  • Course must enhance job skills.
  • Yearly limit without employment obligation $500/year.
  • $2,500 limit per calendar year with a two (2) year employment commitment.
  • Reimbursement based on a grade point sliding scale method with a final grade of an A receiving 100% reimbursement, B a 90% and C 80%.
  • Prior authorization must be received. 
  • Personal Leave
    • Employees receive 60 hours of Personal Leave each year
    • 30 hours are credited to employees on January 1, another 30 hours on July 1
    • All 60 hours must be used prior to the end of the calendar year. The hours received prior to July 1 do NOT have to be used within the first 6 months. 
  • Vacation Leave
    • You begin accruing Vacation Leave immediately. However, you are NOT eligible for paid Vacation Leave until you have been with the County for six (6) months. 
    • Vacation is accrued at the rate of:
      • 2-Weeks Annually | 1-5 years
      • 3-Weeks Annually | 6-15 years
      • 4-Weeks Annually | 16+ Years
  • Sick Leave
    • Accrue 15 days per year
    • There is unlimited accumulation
    • Not eligible for Paid Sick Leave for three (3) months.
  • Paid Holidays
  • Bereavement
    • Up to three (3) days of Bereavement Leave will be given for the death of an employee’s immediate family member as highlighted in the employee handbook. 
    • An additional allowable three (3) Bereavement Sick Days may also be used from your sick leave accruals and would not affect Sick Leave Incentive bonus.
  • Paid Military Leave
    • Regular Full-time employees required to attend annual summer training camps will be granted leave. In order to assist Reservists, the County will pay the difference between your military pay and your regularly scheduled salary if your salary is greater than your military pay.
    • The commissioners have adopted a policy whereby this continuation of pay difference will continue for up to five (5) years for any Reservist called up for active duty. In addition, the County will continue retirement and health insurance at the normal employee cost. 
  • Jury Duty
    • Regular employees who are called to serve as jurors are given time off to perform this important civic duty. 
  • Life Insurance Coverage is 1x your annual earnings to a maximum of $100,000
  • AD & D coverage is 2x your annual earnings to a maximum of $60,000.
  • Dependent Life:
    • Spouse: $2,000
    • Child: $1,000
  • This coverage is provided at no cost to you. 
  • Base Plan-Payable at 40% of your salary, which is provided at no cost. 
  • Buy-Up Plan – at the time of hire you have/would have had the option to Buy-Up for an extra 20%. This is paid for through biweekly payroll deductions. The biweekly cost is dependent upon your age and salary. This amount will increase with your age and salary. 
  • Benefit Waiting Period – After 180 days disabled
  • Maximum Benefit – $5,000 per month 
  • Minimum Benefit – $100 per month 
  • Runs concurrently with FMLA Leave.
  • For all injuries or illnesses that are not work related.
  • There is a 15 calendar day waiting period from your first day off work due to the injury or illness.
  • You must use all sick leave before using STD benefits
  • Coverage is 70% of your wages with a maximum of $1600 biweekly for up to 13 weeks. Benefits, taxes, and other deductions will be taken out of the at 70% that you are eligible to receive.
  • This coverage is offered at no cost to you.
Liberal Leave is in effective for Washington County Government

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.

The starting time for today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting will be reevaluated at 9:00 am.

For those required to travel, exercise caution on the roadways. If driving is necessary, ensure your vehicle is completely cleared, drive at a reduced speed, practice caution, and avoid crowding or passing plows.
