HAGERSTOWN, MD (April 14, 2023) – The Washington County Department of Environmental Management announces that there will be a free agricultural tire recycling collection event on Friday, May 5, 2023, and Saturday, May 6, 2023 as well as Monday, May 8, 2023, and Tuesday, May 9, 2023. All Washington County Farm Bureau Members along with all Washington County MD Farmers and Agricultural landowners are encouraged to bring their farm related and agricultural tires to this recycling event. The Forty West Landfill located at 12630 Earth Care Road in Hagerstown is open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Agricultural Tire Recycling Collection event is funded by the Maryland Environmental Services and the Maryland Farm Bureau, Inc. Washington County can accept and recycle 200 tons of tires. Beginning Friday, May 5, 2023, it is strongly recommended that farmers call 240-313-2796 for a prerecorded message on the status of tire recycling acceptance before transporting tires to the Forty West Landfill.
Once the 200 tons of tires have been accepted for recycling, the cost for Tire recycling is $250 per ton. The attached letter must accompany each load of tires. There is no limit of tires per vehicle. Passenger, light truck and agricultural tires, on or off rims accepted. Commercial Business Prohibited for this event.
