Washington County Government Closed for New Year’s Holiday

HAGERSTOWN, MD (December 28, 2020) –In observance of the New Year’s holiday, Washington County Government offices will close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, and will be closed on Thursday, December 31, 2020, and Friday, January 1, 2021.

 
Essential services will continue to be provided, including, but not limited to, the Landfill, Transit, Airport, Water Quality, and essential public safety services on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
 
County services will operate as listed below for Thursday and Friday:
 
  • The Hagerstown Regional Airport terminal and airfield will operate during regularly scheduled business hours. Administrative offices and the maintenance department will be closed. Allegiant flights will operate as follows:
  • Orlando-Sanford International Airport – Flight arrival is 8:13 a.m. and departure is 8:58 a.m on December 31, 2020.
 
  • All services at Forty West Landfill and all other transfer stations will be closed on Thursday, December 31, 2020, and Friday, January 1, 2021. Services will resume on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
 
  • Washington County Transit Services will close at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020, and will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2021. Transit will return to normal operations on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
 
  • Essential public safety services will remain in effect.

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.

The starting time for today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting will be reevaluated at 9:00 am.

For those required to travel, exercise caution on the roadways. If driving is necessary, ensure your vehicle is completely cleared, drive at a reduced speed, practice caution, and avoid crowding or passing plows.
