Emergency Medical Services

Mission

To protect the lives and improve the safety of all citizens and visitors in Washington County by collaborating with our dedicated volunteer and emergency service providers.

Vision

To promote a “Citizens First” culture, where integrity, accountability, professionalism, compassion, respect, and safety lead the way. Strong leadership and education is our backbone to the “One Team, One Mission” approach that will drive our service forward.

Fire Services

The Office of Fire Services develops, and administers various programs to enhance the provision of fire suppression and rescue services to the citizens of Washington County.  The office assists local volunteer fire departments throughout the county by providing staffing support at the companies’ requests.  The department coordinates the annual testing of fire equipment and fire apparatus, coordinates the purchase and distribution of new personal protective equipment to the volunteer departments, and works closely with the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association to administer various programs and policies that benefit the volunteer fire services in Washington County.

Within the office are the Special Operations Team and the Air Unit (Station 25).  The Special Operations Team receives extensive training to respond to and mitigate hazardous material spills and highly specialized rescues.  The Air Unit refills firefighters’ self-contained breathing apparatus at the scene of structure fires and other emergencies.
