Maryland Office of Social Equity Hosts Western Maryland Town Hall on Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund

HAGERSTOWN, MD (November 7, 2024) – The Washington County Office of Budget and Finance,  on behalf of the Maryland Office of Social Equity (OSE), is sharing information about a town hall in Hagerstown hosted by OSE to discuss the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund (CRRF). This fund, supported by cannabis sales tax revenue, aims to provide resources to communities impacted by historical cannabis criminalization. This town hall is part of a statewide tour to engage residents, gather feedback, and guide the fund’s implementation.

Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, November 14, 2024
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: University System of Maryland at Hagerstown
  • Registration Link: bit.ly/OSETownHalls

The CRRF initiative reflects Maryland’s commitment to equitable economic development by reinvesting cannabis tax revenues into communities in need. This town hall is an opportunity for local residents, leaders, and stakeholders to share their insights, voice their concerns, and participate in shaping fund priorities.

“Our town halls are a platform for community voices to shape how this historic reinvestment effort will impact Marylanders,” said Audrey Johnson, Executive Director of the Office of Social Equity. “This inclusive approach is key to building a just and equitable future.”

The tour includes eight town halls throughout the state, ensuring diverse perspectives from various regions. The feedback collected from these sessions will directly inform the CRRF’s priorities and funding allocations.

Community members, local leaders, and media representatives are encouraged to attend this important event to ensure their voices are heard. Limited capacity requires registration, which can be completed at the link provided above.
