Verizon Wireless Potential Outage Affecting 9-1-1 Calls in Washington County, MD

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 31, 2024) – Washington County’s 911 Communications Center informs the public that Verizon Wireless has identified a potential service issue that may impact the ability of residents in certain areas of Washington County to successfully connect with 911. Verizon Wireless is actively investigating the issue and has alerted Washington County’s 911 Communications Center to a possible disruption affecting 911 call capabilities for Verizon customers in the area.

This serves as an important reminder to all residents that while Verizon Wireless is working to resolve the issue, those experiencing difficulty connecting to 911 are encouraged to:

  • Use a landline if available.
  • Dial 911 from another wireless provider’s phone if possible.
  • Go to the nearest emergency service station or police station if you cannot connect to 911.

All residents are encouraged to stay informed by following Washington County Government’s official channels for any further notifications regarding this service issue.
