HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 29, 2024) – This morning, the Washington County Division of Emergency Services (DES) presented the Life Savers Award to clinicians from Community Rescue Service (CRS) in recognition of their outstanding response to an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The award acknowledges the team’s swift actions, clinical expertise, and dedication to the health and safety of Washington County residents.
On March 27, 2024, EMS responded to a cardiac-related emergency call. During transport, the patient suffered a witnessed ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest. Demonstrating exceptional care and advanced cardiac life support, the CRS team successfully revived the patient, who was then transported to Meritus Medical Center and later transferred to a specialized cardiac care facility for further treatment. After a complete recovery, the patient was discharged and able to reunite with family.
Today’s award ceremony included a heartfelt meeting between the clinicians, the patient, and his family, celebrating the team’s life-saving efforts and their impact on the community.
