Washington County Vaccination Update: January 25, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccination Update
VACCINATION UPDATE

***Timelines are subject to change depending on multiple factors, including vaccine availability***

Although Governor Hogan has stated that group 1C is eligible for COVID-19 vaccine starting today, he has also requested that we continue to prioritize senior residents and dedicate at least 100 doses a week to education staff. The vaccine is still in limited supply, so while groups 1A, 1B, and 1C are eligible in the state, Washington County is currently vaccinating the following:

  • Phase 1A: all priority groups
  • Phase 1B:
  • Adults age 65 and older
  • Certain local congregate living facilities
  • Education teachers and staff
  •
We hope to move forward with vaccinating the other priority groups in phases 1B and 1C in the near future. Currently, public demand for COVID-19 vaccines exceeds the current supply Maryland receives from the federal government. Due to the limited supply, not everyone will be able to get vaccinated right away. We urge everyone to remain patient until they are eligible and there is an adequate supply of vaccines.

Meritus Health is coordinating vaccination clinics for WCPS teachers and employees starting this week. The Washington County Health Department is working with local private schools to begin scheduling vaccination appointments as quickly as possible. If you are a teacher or staff, please reach out to your employer with any questions.

Those aged 65 and older can complete the form below to be contacted for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. You will be contacted to schedule your vaccine appointment in the order in which your request has been received.

The Washington County Health Department has created an interest form in order to create lists for each priority group moving forward. If you are interested in receiving a vaccine and are in the priority groups identified in Phase 1A, 1B, & 1C (other than 65+) please fill out the form below.

You only need to complete the form once. The Health Department will contact people who have registered on this form by priority group as the County receives more vaccine. It may be several days, weeks, or longer until you are contacted since it depends on vaccine availability. Please do not call the health department or Meritus for updates, they have both been experiencing a high volume of calls.

We are currently working on a solution for a phone number for the senior population and for anyone without internet access to call in order to fill out the interest form. Please check back in on social media and the Washington County Vaccination website for further information regarding this.

We will be communicating updates regarding vaccination in the Washington County Joint Information Center (JIC) briefings that are sent to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and posted to social media. To sign up to receive these updates, please click the button below and check off General County on the email list.

For additional information, please contact the Public Relations and Marketing Department at 240-313-2380 or [email protected].
