EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
As a reminder to residents, there is now a statewide masking order that requires face coverings in public spaces of all businesses, and in outdoor public areas when maintaining physical distance is not possible.
Marylanders are strongly advised to postpone or cancel travel to states with positivity rates greater than 10%, which include the following states: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, Nebraska, and Idaho. Out-of-state travelers should immediately get tested and self-quarantine while awaiting results.
In Washington County, while we have avoided significant spikes in key indicators, we are concerned about some of the recent trends we have been seeing, particularly with new infections associated with travel and gatherings. For those who are 35 and under, it is imperative to understand the life-changing consequences loved ones may face if you choose to partake in large gatherings or house parties where CDC guidelines are not being followed. This is of great concern to local health officials as young citizens may be going home to older parents, grandparents, and vulnerable family members and spreading COVID-19. We urge everyone 35 and younger to take this virus serious and to be a responsible and respectful citizen. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please get tested and isolate.
All citizens are encouraged to continue washing your hands, social distance, wear a mask, get tested, and stay at home when experiencing minor symptoms.

Visit www.washcorises.net for constantly updated resources and information to help you reopen your business.
Help Us Continue on Our Path to Reopen Washington County – Please ensure your business and customers continue to follow the recommended CDC guidelines as we reopen businesses and other activities across Washington County. Wearing masks inside, social distancing, regular hand washing, and expanded cleaning is still a critical part of keeping infection rates low – IT IS ALSO STATE LAW. By taking on these minor inconveniences, we can prevent a spike in infections which could force officials to slow down or even reverse the reopening process. The coronavirus has not gone away and we must stay vigilant until a vaccine is created. We all have a responsibility to do our part to help our economy reopen so that our many local businesses can survive and provide jobs for our citizens.
