Be Counted in History – Complete the 2020 Census!

HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 25, 2020) – Washington County Government reminds citizens only five days remain to complete the 2020 Census. The 2020 Census must be completed no later than September 30, 2020.
Today we are focusing on the historical importance of the Census. Did you know that Census information is valuable to genealogical research? Many historians and genealogists use the Census as a resource to help trace invisible stories of common people.
Citizens are encouraged to read the article From Antietam to Ohio: Using the Census to Find Georgianna Rollins to learn how the Census can provide valuable information dating back hundreds of years.

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.

The starting time for today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting will be reevaluated at 9:00 am.

For those required to travel, exercise caution on the roadways. If driving is necessary, ensure your vehicle is completely cleared, drive at a reduced speed, practice caution, and avoid crowding or passing plows.
