DRAINAGE, BRIDGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WILL LEAD TO TEMPORARY DETOUR ALONG I-70 AND US 40 E IN WASHINGTON COUNTY ON MONDAY
Closure Will Be in Effect Through March 17

(March 10, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a drainage and bridge improvement project at I-70 and Exit 9, US 40 E Indian Springs in Washington County on Monday, March 13. Crews will need to close the exit so they can do the work, which is expected to be complete by Friday, March 17.

Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, crews will work 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During work hours, motorists can follow a posted detour to MD 56 (Big Pool Road) and back to US 40. Signs, cones, and barrels will be used to navigate motorists through the work zone.

Contractor Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg will be preforming the work. Drivers are asked to slow down through the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve your roadways.
