Stormwater Management

The DPW manages the Washington County National Pollutant Discharge Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (MS4) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.  The Division’s responsibilities include:

Washington County currently owns and maintains over 120 SWM facilities.  The cost of regular maintenance (mowing and minor repairs) is currently estimated at $245,000/year and is projected to increase to $335,000 in the next 5 years. 

MISSION:
The mission of Washington County's Stormwater Management Program is to educate the public and to protect, maintain and enhance public health, safety and general welfare by protecting water quality and reducing local flooding associated with the effects of land development through the use of best management practices.
